Tea Party

On Sunday we had our monthly Girls Night, except it was more of a Girls Morning! Elyse hosted a mad hatter tea party for us where we dressed up for a late morning tea & some tasty treats. Afterward we decorated our own tea cups. It was a really fun get together and something totally different than what we have done in the past. Actually all of our get togethers have been very unique and different from each other. Anyway here are a couple of snapshots from our latest get together.

Self Defence

Last night was our ladies night, and this time it was Kyla's turn to host. She chose a self defence course, and it was awesome! We had a team of martial Arts experts come and teach us a private lesson on how to defend yourself. It was pretty basic as it was our first time. They told us they do offer more advanced classes though, like how to defend yourself against a  weapon such as a knife or other more advanced situations. For us last night we stuck with basic moves that would help us to get out of being choked, grabbed from behind or grabbed by the hair, you know, standard attacker moves. It was a three and a half hour course but it was a lot of fun! We didn't get to take any pictures during the class so we decided to demonstrate some moves in the locker room for your viewing pleasure.

Naturally when I got home Sandy wanted to test out my defence techniques. I felt pretty confident leaving the course, so no problem I can take him I thought. Wrong! My techniques weren't so great put into actual combat but Im just hoping my fight or flight juices would kick in and I would ward off any such attacker. All in all it was a great ladies night and hopefully the class was only for piece of mind and never has to be used!

Easter Hunt

Last Friday we had Girls Night #3, hosted by Chantelle, an Easter Hunt! She had us divide into three teams and we searched the park for our eggs. She had great easter treats for us at the end of the hunt and we followed this with a buffet of Pinterest inspired recipes!
For this occasion I decided to make Beer & Cheese Dip with Pretzels for the dipping as well as Turtle Cookies. Yum Yum

Girls nights are always fun with something new each time. Our next Girls Night will be hosted by Kyla and we will be doing a self defence course! I can't wait to kick some serious attacker butt.

You might be wondering how our girls nights work or why we even do them. Well we were inspired to do little get togethers to keep us connected since life can get so busy and hectic. We preplanned about 6 months worth of parties and each are a different event or theme and hosted by someone new each time. To make it easy we chose all the dates in advance and marked it in the calendar so it's not a hassle to arrange each months party! So far we have had a cupcake decorating party, a pole dancing party which didn't quite work out but we made it a blast anyway, and then the most recent, the egg hunt! Im looking forward to all the parties to come!

Here are some great shots of our Egg Hunt Party, Enjoy!

Cupcake Party

On Saturday we had our first of many, ladies nights. We are going to have them once a month, each with a different theme and host. The point is to get together with some gals, share a good laugh and get out of our normal routine. For me that means I get to be Jami, not mommy or wife, for a few hours. And for the other girls this might mean they aren't, wife, girlfriend, receptionist, student, or whoever, they just get time to themselves! For our first ladies night we had a cupcake party. This whole title, cupcake party, created a lot of buzz with others as they were wondering what the heck a cupcake party is. Basically, the host pre-baked a ton of cupcakes and on the evening of our ladies night we sat around decorating and eating cupcakes! Don't worry we took a to-go box home, and didn't eat them all that night. We also each brought a an appetizer and had a potluck of items to start with before the cupcakes!

It was a really fun night! And for the first time, I didn't worry about my boys at home. Since switching Alexander to the bottle he is so much better for his babysitters. Dad was on babysitting duty all day Saturday, including the evening when I went to the ladies night. They did great together the entire day, and it makes life so much easier for me when Im not anxiously worrying about them while I'm gone.
